Small Kindnesses

As soon as it becomes the slightest bit warm, our street turns into a giant lake. This is because
a) apparently when the city re-did our street they reduced the number of storm drains and
b) they plow the streets and of course the ice piles up on the side, covering the drains.

A nice man 3 doors down noticed that it was impossible for us to walk on the sidewalk or the street beside our house, because of this giant lake, so he went out this afternoon and located the storm drain, and then carved a trench from the lake to the drain so that it would drain and we could walk. Out of the blue.

How nice is that!

His dog is old and he is young, and sometimes he starts out to walk her, and they get only to our house (3 houses away), and she decides that that was plenty of walking for her for today. I often hear him discussing the issue with her politely, in front of our house, trying to convince her that they could walk just a little further, but she is a dog who knows her own mind, and usually wins the debate.

ahhhhhh giant lakes of water near the sidewalk or on the sidewalk....i hate those! When I was in highschool i would walk down carling and the 85 oc transpo bus would occasionally splash me no matter how hard I tried to avoid the situation. grrrr...

That neighbour is nice! Nowadays polite or just "nice" people have become a rarity!
